I didn’t say set fire to the Knesset!
Sitting relaxed, eyes closed, and breathing slowly, let’s to take ourselves back to childhood, to the days just before we began going to school. At home, preparations at are taking place – we need new clothes, a school bag and pencils. How exciting, but scary it is, to step into the real world of grown ups for the first time. There are so many unknowns, so many questions: Where will we eat lunch? What will it be like? What will I have to do? Can we remember what our parents told us about what it would be like? Can we still taste the surprise of how different school was, from the romantic way they described it? …. Well, yes, they lied to us, and continued to do so, on most matters of state and religion.
Of course, its not their fault, for each holds the opinion afforded by his rank. All primates, which live in groups, form male dominance hierarchies. Humans are no exception, which means that despite love, all the good intentions in the world and even guruji’s blessings, the uncomfortable bottom line is, that the largest, most violent and/or manipulative monkey wins control of the group. This often ignored principle is the same in all institutions, whether family, school, meditation group or military – that the meanest, gets first pickings of the food, sex and wealth. Now, Shmeiki Baba is 173cm tall, not very mean, and only a little bit violent, which poses a problem, as an alpha male pretender.
The thing is, for almost all of us, modern life necessitates being trapped in a complex web of values, upheld by our education, work, family and friends, and glued in place by nationalistic media. It is easy to forget that our one true duty, is to be aware of the life-force which runs though us. This ought to be the end of the story, but In Israel, the success of the pioneers, whose dream to become guardians of a physical nation whose structures rival any country, has led us to become institutionalized, and imprisoned by our own hands. They could never have envisaged, that we their heirs would live like robots, tow the line, and pay heavy taxes to such a self interested administration, whilst standing obediently to attention at the independence day siren. We, the grandchildren of the purposeful and the fearless, now are frightened of disapproval, and worse – accusations of not being team players. ‘This is how it is’ we are told by our parents, who want us to quietly endure the same bullshit as they do. They know no different – and some fathers see children as genetic photocopies, declaring with pride, “I was a fighter in the army, and my son, God dammit, will be the same.”
Er, Shmeiki Baba, have you got a better suggestion for how we should live?
Well, let’s get it straight from the start – trying to fight our institutions directly, would be a futile and bloody experience. There have been many revolutions at different points in history, each based around an ideology, of somehow making man a better person. Each was doomed to fail from the outset, for as revolutionary leaders smash old institutions, new ones are rapidly formed, which are often even more pernicious than the last. It is one of the paradoxes of Man, that whilst striving endlessly for freedom, he also creates male dominance hierarchies, which, by their nature, imprison him. And now, as our institutions are administrated with modern technology, and steered by the homogenising force of globalisation, the air we breathe can only become more stifling. It’s a tendency which we can’t really fight. That’s why, its best to laugh, not take them seriously, and wherever possible ignore them completely.
Let’s put our focus instead, on truly fulfilling stuff, like: Shmantric Sex, for when we are full of love, and connected to the source, what need have we for identity and rules? And let us also explore the Shmychedelic experience – for nothing smashes institutional beliefs like mind altering substances, which of course is why they are generally illegal. For complicated minds, drastic measures are needed, which is why we also offer Sadopassana and other Shmechniques, to reach the edges of our potential, far beyond the limits of social position. Let us take the opportunity to do these things now, because time is running out. The 21st December 2012, spells the end of the Shmayan Calendar, and the arrival of some key change – yes, this day might pass like a smelly, cosmic fart, but it might also spell a cataclysm, a major reset for mankind, and life as a whole on earth. We don’t know whether it will come in the form of global financial collapse, a juicy mushroom explosion, a new killer virus, or creatures from out of space. What we can know though, is that those of us who act like ex-convicts unable to cope on the outside, won’t live. Those who can adapt, and think outside the box, might stand a chance of survival.
Why did it have to end up like this?
Well, we’ve evolved more than the other primates, and our institutions, are the result of our collective wild egos, and correspondingly embody our worst characteristics. But let’s try to see this as a temporary stage for man – just a few thousand years of sectarian insanity, a natural reaction to losing both sacred love and the connection to earth once provided by magic mushrooms. The good news, is that enough of us now understand that our institutions, even those founded on elitist ideals, are only breading grounds for the mediocrity and loss of self.
You sound quite defeatist about all this. Is there really nothing else we can do?
No, there are things that can be done, if you’ve really got the energy for it, for a start all institutions need splitting into autonomous sub groups of 120.
Why 120?
Because, however many friends you have on Facebook, research has shown that the natural, healthy limit for groups of humans is just 120. That’s why primitive man lived in groups of up to that size. 120 turns out to be the maximum number of faces we can easily remember, and the biggest number of people we can hold a personal relationship with.
Larger groups lead to dehumanization, and the subjugation of individual needs to the common good, and the tragi-comic conflict, between love and duty, which shows itself repeatedly in art – Increasingly, we’ve tried to reduce the conflict by minimizing love – and see where its got us. If we are to have any hope, we must instead reduce our sense of duty. But I didn’t say set fire to the Knesset….. we have to accept the world the way it is.
There are some other steps we can take to improve our lives, such as: by living in small autonomous communes, educating our children ourselves, and choosing sexually fulfilled women as leaders. The problem is, most sexually fulfilled women have much better things to do than to be leaders.
What about the institution of Shmeiki, doesn’t it also run the risk of being stagnant too?
Well yes, but we constantly laugh at ourselves, and in case we should ever become too serious, we’ve adopted an Al Qaeda style cell structure, where each unit operates independently of any central command structure.
There’s time for one more question.
I wanted to opt out of the main stream, and live in an alternative spiritual community, so I moved to Amirim. But beyond the beautiful view, I felt sickened by hypocrisy there. Is it possible to make a community which doesn’t fall into the pitfalls of normal institutions?
…Communities founded on spiritual ideals, are havens for untalented people, who spend their time pretending to be happier than they really are. But see the positive side – if you have the inclination to receive the first slice of vegetarian quiche , and have sex with the prettiest of the 30-something therapists, who hide under their beds to eat kabanos, spiritual communities like Amirim, are easy places for us to exert ourselves as alpha male. By the way, for yoginis who get a twitch in their knickers and a longing for a strap on lingum, when they hear phrases like alpha male, and male dominance heirachy, don’t worry, nowadays women can also exert themselves as alpha males.
